CGS All-Star Game Please!

A CGS PPV, how sweet would that be, especially if it was free. I'm not talking about Mixed Martial Arts, although NinjaCW might be able to get more rounds on master in the octagon than in DOA. Rather, I am suggesting that CGS dedicate one broadcast at some point during the season to an all-star game type of event. I've been thinking about this lately and with nothing better to do at 12:35 in the morning while watching the 15th inning of the MLB all-star game, I figured what better time to expound my thoughts on this matter that now.

The Individual Finals try to do what an all-star game does for every other sport, but ultimately come up short. By only allowing one team from each region to compete, a lot of the best talent is left out of this event. Take this season for example. As the regular season drew to a close, there was a 3-way tie for 1st place in Forza 2 as New York, Chicago, and Carolina all ended with 8-4 records. Because Carolina had a winning record against both 3D and Chicago they were chosen to represent Region 1 in the finals despite 3D.NY having a better point differential, which holds more weight than a head to head record in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I'm by no means trying to knock Phantom and General, they beat 3D fair and square twice, I just wish there would have been tie-breaker or sorts, but it is what it is. I don't think it will surprise anyone when I say that an overwhelming majority of the talent in this league calls Region 1 home and to only have 1 team represent them in the individual finals is pretty lame.

Not only could this be an all-star game, but there could be grudge matches surrounding it, a la the CGS Combine. Some of my fondest memories from CGS sanctioned events are from the two Combines when GM's would call "challenge matches" pitting two top players against one another. Going beyond the challenge matches, the Combine saw a lot of unregulated grudge matches with some interesting side bets including a shaved head or two. Whether they choose to only include drafted players in these "grudge matches" would be entirely up to the league, but how cool would it be to see a CGS player take on someone who didn't quite make the cut this year or someone from an opposing league.

Not only would these grudge matches give the players a chance to play in a lighthearted event with little to nothing on the line, I think it is a perfect opportunity to get some community involvement. The CGS exists to please its audience and how sweet would it be to elect players to the all-star game like nearly every other professional sport through online voting and other mediums. CGS could put up a poll midway through the season and have a week break during which they have some fun filled broadcasts that both the players and fans alike would enjoy. Hell, have it at EA studios for all I care and just stream it online, I just want to see it happen.

They could even get more creative and allow players from other divisions to battle it out in a game other than their own. From what I've seen in the practice rooms, there are some pretty good DOA4 CS:S Players. I know that some of the 3D.NY guys take it pretty serious and have gotten pretty good at DOA. Also, our GM is the resident FIFA Pro who could trade in his day job and go pro at the drop of a hat.
If CGS were to implement a broadcast of this sort and have an "all-star break" or at least expand the individual finals, you had better bet I would be the biggest supporter of this change. During my time in LA I found that players were getting pretty tired of the month long grind and I think a break somewhere in there would do nothing but good things. It is a great chance to shoot som

I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that an All-Star game will happen...

and this doesn't come from any secret inside info or gossip I heard.

I just truly believe they will make it happen.
Rookier of the Year started as just an article by LanDodger and moved to an actual award..... I see the same thing occurring. It is a smart move for the league to, to bring visitors to the website during the offseason.

But yes, an All-star game would be nice. A mixed team from the East and one from the West !

Yay Toast writes an article I agree with I was thinking about an all star game a week ago or so, it would be something that's a part of real sports leagues that would work perfectly in the CGS.

No doubt, our point difference nearly doubled core's point difference. We were definitely the best team, despite head to head.

It shouldn't be East vs West but instead it should be US players vs the World Players.

Great idea, Optx, Complexity, and Venom would be the west and Chimera, 3D.NY, and Core would be the east.
