CGS Pro-Am Features CS 1.6

Posted by: DchozN

CGS unifies Source and 1.6 communities
The Championship Gaming Series has announced their new CGS Pro-Am Division. As the name implies this will unify both the CGS professional gamers and aspiring amateurs in online competition which will culminate into a grand final at the CGS Combine for the top placing amateurs with $50,000 on the line. The games featured for this event are Valve’s Counter-Strike 1.6 and Team Fortress 2.

"CGS Pro-Am will launch in North America and Europe in August 2008, with players competing on CGS game servers, online. The top two CGS Pro-Am finishers in those two games in each region will receive top seeding and travel packages to compete in the Counter-Strike® 1.6 and Team Fortress® 2 showdown during the CGS 2009 North America Combine for a total prize purse of more than $50,000, plus additional prizes."

More information, details, and rules will be available soon at thecgs.com. Registration for the CGS Pro-Am Division commences in July, 2008.

lol x4, Source Pro-Am would be a half good idea but not when they already have a Pro division.

the rulesets HOPEFULLY will stay loyal to the traditional 800 startmoney, maxrounds 15 format!

#10, they've no reason to change, being that it's online and doesn't have the limitations of TV.

I guess CGS is going to set a ruleset for TF2. Competition community wasn't in the best shape! =P

People complain about CSS having no skill gap... yet they play TF2, which requires almost no skill compared to TFC.

In TF2, you can't run in a room, and use your reflexes (faster than everyone else's) to kill everyone like you can in CS. There are no real 'wow' moments, and the newbies can do almost just as well as the better players.

I'd really love to see you get creamed with that mindset if you play competitive

edit: For CSS that is

I can already tell you the top team in North America is Team EG (but more LAN friendly than Online) so X3O will probably be the top team.
